Install once. Then fact-check any video with one click.
When a supported page has a playable video, a small Check this video or Check live button appears directly over the player. Click it once and a persistent evidence panel opens beside the page, so the video keeps playing while you scroll the checks. It never captures the picture, your camera, or your microphone.
Install the beta connector · 0.7.1
- Download companion 0.7.1 and unzip it into a folder you will keep.
- In Chrome, open
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the unzipped folder. - Open YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, or another supported media page. You do not have to pin the extension.
- Click Check this video or Check live on the player. The results open in Chrome's side panel. Facebook videos and live streams listen to the playing tab's audio. Other supported replays use a transcript when available, with an audio option if retrieval fails.
Still showing an older version?
The ZIP beta does not download updates automatically. Chrome's top Update button cannot fetch replacement files from this website. Download and extract the new ZIP into the same folder you originally loaded, replacing the old extension files. Then click the extension's circular Reload button and confirm the version is 0.7.1.
If you extracted to a different folder, use Load unpacked to select that folder (the one containing manifest.json). If two copies appear, disable the older copy. After updating, refresh YouTube or the page you are checking and reopen the side panel.
Live audio needs permission?
We first try the playing video's audio directly. If the player prevents that, click the Say It. Check It. shield in Chrome's toolbar once to authorize audio from the selected tab. This resumes the same session without a pairing code or screen-sharing picker. “Connecting” means no audio has been confirmed yet; “Listening live” appears after an audio segment reaches the server.
How customers will install it
On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, the public release will be installed from the Chrome Web Store with Add to Chrome. Chrome shows the requested permissions once, pins or exposes the shield in the Extensions menu, and delivers signed updates automatically.
Chrome on Android and iPhone does not install desktop Chrome extensions. Android customers use the Say It. Check It. app and choose it from the phone's Share menu; iPhone customers will use the future iOS app and Safari extension after App Store distribution. The current ZIP and APK are direct commercial-beta builds; store installation remains a separate review process.
What leaves the browser
Independent audio segments of about 12 seconds are sent to your paired Say It. Check It. session for transcription and research. No full recording is saved by Say It. Check It. Stop in the connector or on the website at any time.
